2008 East Coast HSP Gathering

For the first time in three years, there's going to be an HSP Gathering on the East Coast! Last time there was a Gathering in the east was in Pennsylvania, in 2005. This year's East Coast HSP Gathering will take place from October 2-6 at the Menla Mountain Retreat Center in Phoenicia, NY. The venue is near Woodstock, about 2 hours north of New York City, and sits on several hundred private acres in the heart of Catskill Park. It is about 200 miles from Philadelphia, and about 350 miles from Washington, DC.

Presenters at the New York Gathering include Jacquelyn Strickland, Sarah O'Doherty and Jessica Thayer. Elaine Aron will present recent work on "HSPs and Self-Esteem" to the group on Sunday afternoon via teleconference. Non-workshop activities will include Creativity Night, Music and Dance Night and Art Night, as well as plenty of time to simply socialize and get to know fellow HSPs.

HSP Gatherings are highly validating and often transformative events for HSPs. Even those who feel some hesitance about being part of group activities tend to discover that a group of Highly Sensitive People is quite different from other groups.

The Northeast HSP Group now has its own blog!

Whereas the web site is nice and informative, and the discussion group is great for interaction, a blog seemed like the most convenient format to post "news and events" of possible HSP Group meetings in the region, changes to the group, and other news.

If you're an HSP who just found this blog, and have no idea there was an actual group for HSPs in this part of the country, the good news is that there IS! If you'd like to know more about the group, please visit the Northeastern States HSP Group web site, where you'll find more information about the trait of high sensitivity, as well as information about the group, itself.

The group has moderated membership and posting, in the interest of maintaining an "HSP safe" environment for members. HSPs living in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Washington D.C. area are welcome and invited to join!
